The Friday Club | 13.10.2023 |

The fifth part of our lecture series “The Friday Club” took place for the first time at diwodo. This time, the audience was able to listen to exciting presentations and background information on the topics of e-sports and games in a fully booked house. Afterwards, as always, there were cool drinks from the Borussia Brauerei and discussions at the in-house bar.

Included this time were:

Jannis is Team Leader Digital Products & Innovation at BVB. His focus will be on the further development of the association’s digital platforms, such as the website and app, as well as responsibility for innovation projects such as collaborations with start-ups and the implementation of new technologies.

Another important part of his work is the eFootball division, which was launched three years ago. We are looking forward to learning more about this topic in his presentation.

Hauke has been building video games, board games, apps, adventures, podcasts, documentaries, articles, books and sometimes streaming for about 15 years.

It all started with MTV, then moved on to Rocket Beans TV, Bonjwa was a stopover, public television and most recently his own ventures, as far as they can be fueled from abroad, because since he has been living in Japan, he has actually only worked remotely on projects. Just media.

Hauke told us about his personal life, his work in the games industry and his newly founded studio Blankhans with their debut work “Corbeborn – Nations of the Ultracore”.

Sebastian Hollstein is an indie game developer in Berlin and a game design lecturer in Lucerne. In the last 20 years of his career, he founded the award-winning game development studio “Studio Fizbin” and the game collective “Saftladen”.

As a game director, he has shaped games such as “The Inner World” adventures, the “Elephant App” for children and the interactive game table “Game of Peace” in the Münster State Museum. He was active on various juries, committees and in the association.

Since 2022, he has devoted considerably more time to his two young children. In addition to part-time teaching, however, there are already new ideas bubbling up about how to shake up the puzzle genre with a mini-team.

Our Friday Club isa once again supported by Dortmund Kreativ. As always … many thanks for that. We are already looking forward to Part 6.
